Below Deck Season 13 sets sail in Phuket, Thailand with Captain Kerry, Fraser, and Rainbeau, who is already micromanaging. The father and daughter also break down two climbing documentaries, The Last First: Winter K2 on Apple TV and Girl Climber on Netflix, plus quick takes on The Kardashians' AI intro, Traitors New Blood, and an early look at Love Is Blind.
Dad: Good morning, Isabella.
Isabella: Good morning, Dad. Today is Saturday morning. What's the date? The seventeenth? Yes.
This is episode what? Eight? 19. 19. Okay.
We're almost to it. Should we do a party for 20?
Dad: We could, depending on how many listeners we have.
Isabella: Yeah. Not a super hefty episode today, but we do have Below Deck, RHONY, RHOSLC. Oh, we both watched The Last First: Winter K2, on Apple TV. And then I have a couple quick comments about some other things like the Kardashians and Traitors New Blood. Okay.
Dad: Where do wanna start?
Isabella: Let me just give my couple quick notes, and then we can dig into the other stuff. Go for it. So the Kardashians, there's a new season, two episodes out. I've only watched the first one. You have never been into this show, and I don't blame you at all, but to be honest, it hasn't been good since it left E!.
Dad: Interesting.
Isabella: It's on Hulu now, for those who don't know. They... I watch the show because I like them, not because it's super entertaining. And they've reached a new low because they had this intro for their new season that was completely AI. Like, they had AI versions of each of them, and it was so bizarre.
Like, Kim Kardashian, you have, like, the real Kim, and she's talking to her AI self that has three noses. And she's like, You'll... All the sisters and Kris are coming together like, You guys will never be us. The point is that, Oh, AI will never replicate us. But you can make that point, but it doesn't really hit the same if you're gonna make that point by using AI.
It was very bizarre and stupid, and, yeah. I don't know if I can even keep watching it anymore. Yeah.
Dad: Does that land in the hate category, hate watch? I don't
Isabella: know if it lands in the hate watch. It kind of lands in the, like, I feel like I have to watch it because I've watched every single season, and I used to love it, but I might Yeah, I don't know. Okay. Still watching Survivor, watching Amazing Race. I don't have comments on those, but Traitors New Blood is starting to get good.
It's starting to pick up. Realize They're starting maybe who some of the traitors are. So that's...
Dad: We are watching that. I think we might be an episode or two behind, and it just doesn't hit the same without the celebrities.
Isabella: It doesn't. It takes a few more episodes to really get interesting, but I think some of the faithfuls are starting to clock some of the traitors.
Dad: I couldn't help but think that it was a parallel to Survivor to me in some respects, in that I can't stand the challenges or whatever they call it on Traitors where they're going for money. First of all, it's chump change numbers. Right? Like, you might win $50,000
Isabella: Well, yeah, but we thought that with the celebrities, but for these people, that's like That's fair. Real
Dad: Right? But the... It just is a waste of time. Right? I like the intrigue and people thinking that they've spotted or figured out who a traitor is and the back and forth, but the actual whatever they call it on that show, equivalent to the challenges on Survivor.
Yeah. The one thing, what's the name of the host, who's great, by the way?
Isabella: Alan Cumming.
Dad: Yes. At least he doesn't give the play by play like Jeff Probst does on Survivor.
Isabella: Yeah. He's actually funny,
Dad: Alan Yes. And I could probably stand a lot more of it because of his his accent, but the, you know, it's it it... So it could be worse.
Isabella: Well, yeah. I think the the better part of Traitors is the gameplay and, like, trying to figure out who the traitors are versus the challenges.
Dad: True. True.
Isabella: So that's all of my little secondary comments.
Dad: Okay.
Isabella: Where do we want to start? Do we want to start with K2?
Dad: Yeah. Let's just knock out the one... There'll be more than one documentary, but I have this sort of weird fascination with climbing movies, documentaries. I've watched, I think, almost every one. People are probably most familiar with Free Solo, but there are many more.
Not... To just talk broadly about the genre, someone always dies. It's like almost guaranteed. It may not be the person who they're focusing on, but someone is gonna die in every climbing. And when I say climbing, mean mainly mountaineering, but not just mountaineering.
So this one just came out, as Isabella mentioned, on Apple. It's called The Last First: Winter K2, and the reference in the title is to... There are very few things left in mountaineering that haven't been done yet. To be the first to climb Everest was done many years ago. The first to summit K2 many years ago.
But the first to summit K2 in the winter, that's the reference.
Isabella: Also, K2 is a mountain in the Himalayas. Yes. I didn't know what that was at first. If you don't know mountains, then...
Dad: Good point. And it's widely believed to be the most dangerous mountain in the world. Not Mount Everest, which is the tallest peak, but this is the most technical and demanding, and especially in winter, hence why no one's ever tried to climb it in winter before. And I think that they say at some point during the documentary, of the people who make it to the summit, one quarter die. I don't know if that's accurate, but it's probably not far off.
So that's the backdrop. There are 14 mountain peaks in the world that are above 8,000 meters, which is the magic number. And K2 is one of those. And so they talk about how these mountaineers... Someone makes a public statement that he is going to climb it first in winter.
And so they focus a little bit on this guy, I think he's from Iceland, and his climbing buddy who is from, I think, Pakistan. And they're there, and they're all buddy buddy and happy, and then this guy shows up, I think he goes by Nimy or Nami?
Isabella: It was like Nirmal, I think.
Dad: Yeah, yeah. So this other guy from
Isabella: They called him Nims, I think.
Dad: Nims, yes, yes. And he's the focus of another documentary that I can't remember and won't mention.
Isabella: And he's Nepalese.
Dad: Yes, right. So there becomes a pretty big base camp. It goes from two climbers to 10 to 20 to 30, and it's almost like Everest is during the season where there are just so many people backed up. And there's some intrigue and I don't want to give away too much of it, but sticking with the overall, somebody dies.
Isabella: Well, more than somebody, there are few.
Dad: You're right. And your mother always gets angry or a little bit irritated when I watch it, not with me, but with the fact that the people who do it, almost inevitably they have a spouse, most often a wife at home, often kids, and her refrain is, How could you do this to your family? But it did get me thinking, and they talk about this in this documentary and some of the others, there's something, I don't want to say wrong with, but there's something about these people that makes them driven. They cannot focus on anything outside of this, their passion, including when they're at home. They're always thinking of something else.
And so they're just driven in ways... And it... Notwithstanding what they put their families through, it's pretty insane what they can do and what they put themselves through to get to the tops of these mountains. So I knew I was gonna watch it. What were your thoughts?
And I'm gonna come back to another one real quick.
Isabella: Yeah. I didn't have a ton of notes. The one thing I did write down is the avalanches while they're at base camp, that should have been a sign. No? I know that probably happens all the time in climbing, but I don't know.
Dad: I think that they put the base camps away from the most likely place where an avalanche is gonna occur, but there's... Yes. That's one of the many things that they face and one of the reasons people have died is in avalanches. And most of these peaks are so high. If you die at the top of the mountain, or if you're in a position where you can't get yourself down, you're going to die because it's physically impossible for someone to help you get down And the there's no way for a helicopter to go up and get you to rescue you.
There's... I'm pretty certain that everyone that's died, at least on Everest, is still there. They do not bring the bodies down, it's too dangerous, and it's... You're permanently there. You're frozen forever, so you'll be there till the end of time.
There's no Do they have like
Isabella: a morgue on top of Everest? They're just
Dad: people dead. Now, I think that they get covered up with snow, but I that also when people climb up in certain spots, they see the bodies. They're still there. It's just so...
Isabella: Oh, God. Yes. So again,
Dad: it takes a very unique individual to want to do and to accomplish these things.
Isabella: Pretty morbid. But I mean, not giving... Trying not to give anything away, and you can cut this later, but, I mean, we kinda saw that on this documentary. We kinda saw what you're talking about.
Dad: Yes, yes. And they usually don't show the dead people on most of the other documentaries.
Isabella: One more thing I want to say. It's so interesting to me how, in my mind, I'm thinking, like, okay, they have the base camp, and then they have all these camps. Right? And I'm thinking they're trying to get to the next camp, and then that's where they're staying. But I guess they're going up and then coming back to the base camp.
Dad: Yes.
Isabella: Like that, don't understand.
Dad: That's part of the acclimation process. Okay.
Isabella: So you
Dad: get to base camp, which in some instances is a feat in and of itself, and then I can't remember how many, but I think that Everest has four or five different camps above base camp. And you go from base to to camp one, and then you come back down. Then you go from base to camp one, and then to camp two, and then you come back down to one, or maybe to base camp. And I think that the process can take weeks, if not months, because going up and down is part of getting used to the higher and higher elevations. Right.
And not everyone has done it that way, but that's the most normal or frequent way, is my understanding.
Isabella: Obviously, Yeah. I'm not out I guess if you're trying to... If there's a day that you're deciding you're gonna try and summit, is what they call it, try and get to the top, then you're probably taking a couple days to get to that last camp, and then seeing if the weather's good and going up, and if the weather's bad, you go back down.
Dad: Yes. Correct?
Isabella: Yes. Okay. So interesting.
Dad: I'm fascinated with it. And this, of course, the algorithm, it's a different network, but since I watch so many of these on Netflix, I watched another one, which was from 2025 called Girl Climber. And this might be even more interesting to people who listen to this show. This is, very quickly, a woman named Emily Harrington. This is a story about how she wants to climb El Capitan.
Isabella: Which we've watched something about that before.
Dad: Right. Free Solo, and she's very friends... Very good friends with that guy whose name escapes me, Alex something. Anyway, there's... Many people have climbed El Cap, but not many people have climbed it in a single day.
And only one woman has ever climbed it in a single day, but none of them have climbed this certain route called Golden Gate, which is very difficult. Instead, they call... They climb another route called Freerider. So the only ones who climbed it in one day are all men on that one, so she wants to start doing it. She has a very interesting background.
She grew up climbing, just rock climbing in gyms and stuff like that, and she was in competitions and was great. At a young age, she had an eating disorder, but recovered from that. She decided in 2012 at the age of 25 that she was going to climb Mount Everest. So she climbs Mount Everest, and she's never climbed a mountain before. She's done is gym climbing.
She does that, so then this is a long running documentary because it takes her years to get this thing, I'm not going say whether she does it or not, but she tries several times to climb El Cap in one day. When I say one day, it's twenty four hours. So they'll start at like two in the morning. Geez. And then they're running the clock.
And it was just another example. I will give one spoiler. She uses ropes. So unlike Alex, the guy that is her climbing partner who's famous for free soloing, meaning he climbs that with nothing other than chalk to use as equipment. No sapiens.
This lady, at least, thank goodness that she has ropes because that made it a lot less concerning. I'm afraid of heights, so I kind of live... When I watch this, I'm always a little bit sketched out. But I thought it was a great one. I recommend you watch it.
Isabella: Okay. Cool.
Dad: Alright. What do you want to do next?
Isabella: Should we just go in order? Sure. Start with Below Deck? Yes. New season of Below So I wrote down I didn't have a ton of notes here because it's we're kind of getting started, there's not really much drama, but for background, we have Fraser.
Fraser? Fraser?
Dad: I think it's Fraser. Fraser.
Isabella: I can never get that right. We have Fraser back as Chief Stew. Rainbeau is also returning. She was another Stew from another season. They are in Phuket, Thailand, which is very cool.
That's a place that I would love to go to someday. They have a new chef named Moe, and they have a new bosun named Alex. And then the only other thing I had to say is Rainbeau is immediately stressing me out. She seems very, very stressed herself, but she's also very much micromanaging, and she's not the chief stew. No.
So, yes, she's already making me nervous. Oh, Captain Kerry, I think we said last time, but yeah, he is the captain, and yeah, that's tough.
Dad: I only have one or two things to say. One, I wrote down hot blondes. So I think that they focused more on the looks of the crew this year. I don't know. The guys seem to be decent looking, but the
Isabella: Yeah, the guys were good looking for sure.
Dad: The the one... There's a woman who works on the deck crew. She definitely works out. She squats. She does some leg day.
I mean, insane. And then, this was kind of a weird foreshadowing, maybe. The captain... What's his name again? Andy?
Kerry. Kerry. Andy. He makes some comment about how dangerous it is in Thailand. And I don't know whether he was talking about pirates or something, but he gives a warning at the first all crew meeting, like, Be on the lookout.
If something looks off, let me know. I'm like, What is going on there? Who knows whether it's gonna bear
Isabella: fruit Maybe it or was a... What's the word? Foreshadowing, You I didn't say foreshadowing. I did.
Dad: I'm pretty sure I did. We'll check the transcript.
Isabella: Roll the tapes. Roll the tapes.
Dad: Okay, that's all I have to say, but the preview for the rest of the season does look like it's gonna have a lot of drama.
Isabella: Yeah, yeah. There's just not much yet.
Dad: Right. Okay. What about RHONY?
Isabella: RHONY, I had a lot to say about RHONY, and I just want to say, I am impressed. I'm impressed. I had low expectations for this season. I really did. Like, I thought they just kind of needed to scrap it.
But, yeah, I'm impressed.
Dad: I agree.
Isabella: I don't even know where to start here.
Dad: I'll start with one. Obviously... If anyone has seen this episode, I wrote down, Sai went in too hard. And I think that was in reference to the Epstein Files.
Isabella: Yeah. And Erin too.
Dad: Yeah. Oh, yes. Yes. So the... I don't know if we want to talk about the Epstein Files comments, but then I did also write down that Erin is a bit of a crybaby, right?
I wrote that after she cut her foot in the pool and then immediately blamed what's her face?
Isabella: Yeah. Katie? Is that the... No. No.
Erika. Erika. We still are struggling with her name. No.
Dad: I always struggle with names. But she cries at the drop of a hat and it's usually at her own doing. Now, obviously, if you cut yourself, I can see, like, it's painful. I don't know that I anticipate someone actually boo hooing. Right?
Like someone's died. But I I do think that it's good, but in the same thing that we brought up last year or last week, in that it's good because these people have issues.
Isabella: Well, yeah. I mean, that's usually why it's
Dad: I know.
Isabella: Why something's good. I have a couple things I wanna say before we get into the Carole Epstein thing, which I have a... I have something that I just wanna say about that in general anyway, but we'll get there. The episode opens with Daisy complaining more. She's complaining about having to make her own coffee.
I'm like...
Dad: Yes, what?
Isabella: Like, get over it.
Dad: And then she compares the Mosquito Island to a Marriott, which I thought was strange, right?
Isabella: Like, okay, you can go to the Marriott if Go you someplace in Go for it.
Dad: Yeah.
Isabella: Jessel, we also... The argument from last time that I thought was gonna maybe continue here didn't really.
Dad: Right.
Isabella: I mean, it just kind of opened the next day. Jessel confirmed she's wearing couture couture today because if you remember the Sheen I
Dad: don't even know exactly what that means. Like, I I know it's something to do with high fashion, but is that, like, a known definition that if someone says, this is couture?
Isabella: Yeah. I mean, yeah. It means that it's, like, made by, guess, a high designer and...
Dad: One of a kind? I I mean...
Isabella: That's a good question. I am not the right person to ask that question to. I'm not well versed in the fashion world. Oh, Erin did get an apology for the insurance thing.
Dad: Yes. From both Erika and Jessel.
Isabella: Yes. So that's Yeah, that's kind of how it It was the next morning, but that's how we kind of moved on. And then we get Jenna Lyons mention from Jenna Lyons was on the other rebooted RHONY seasons. She texted Sai that she actually knew about the separation, and she found it out from, like, a mutual friend of Erin's, I guess.
Dad: Yes.
Isabella: So Sai is pissed, and we're gonna see that later. As you mentioned, she goes in on Erin.
Dad: No, that part, I think she was not going in too hard.
Isabella: Well, that's fair. Right. Yeah. That's fair. Because I guess Erin's If your friend is telling other people something that you told them not to tell, then that's Yeah, that's an issue.
And we'll get into that later. Of course, Erin's saying, I didn't do that. But anyways, then go back to Carole, and she's kind of... It's interesting because it almost seems like she's trying to bring it up. Because she keeps making weird comments of like, Oh, if you Google me and...
Dad: That's right. Now that I think about it, it is odd. Like it's not she probably knows it's going to come up because all these ladies, well, everyone on all these shows, Google someone their cast member.
Isabella: Yeah. And I just wanna say, regarding this topic, yeah, we're talking about reality TV, but the whole Epstein thing is very, very serious and very, very heavy and dark, and I don't even know what
Dad: to say. I'm just surprised it's not at the top of the fold of the newspaper every single day.
Isabella: Right.
Dad: It's almost like it's gone, and
Isabella: nobody talks about it. The point I'm trying to make is we're not trying to downplay We're
Dad: not making
Isabella: of this at not making light
Dad: We'll just call and say that. Yeah.
Isabella: So, with that being said, Carole does talk about how she did know Ghislaine.
Dad: She pronounced her name very differently than what it... I almost like she said Galan.
Isabella: Yeah. And I...
Dad: She probably knows if she
Isabella: knew So guess her, so. That's... Sai was saying it weird too. I don't know, but I'm gonna say Ghislaine because that's how I've always heard it. She said she never spoke...
Oh, she said Ghislaine never spoke about Jeffrey Epstein, and Carole never met him. She said she's never been to the island. She said Carole was friendly with her and had mutual friends, but then she also said in the same breath she went to dinner with Prince Andrew, which is... That's... Yikes.
Of course, we know, as you've already mentioned, Sai is really, really pushing her. She makes a comment of, Well, I have teenage daughters. I need to know if there's a pedophile around me. Something like that.
Dad: Right. But also she kept talking and wouldn't let Carole respond. It was so annoying. Yeah.
Isabella: I think Daisy jumped in at one point and was like, Let her speak.
Dad: Right.
Isabella: Yeah, it's very accusatory, if that's the right word.
Dad: Yes.
Isabella: Which, to a certain extent, I get where she's coming from, but I think you're... Carole's not really the person to come at for this, I think.
Dad: No. I mean, they did show a partially redacted email where Carole refers to, I can't wait to see the girls, and Sai's trying to draw an analogy like, Oh, maybe you're talking about underage girls. And it's just so... I thought that Carole had an innocent explanation. Yeah.
I'm talking about I can't wait to see you and the other girls. Like, when you're talking about each other, you can refer to them, each other as girls.
Isabella: Yeah. Just like I was probably sending to some of my girlfriends the other... Like, couple weeks ago, I'm excited to see the girls. Right.
Dad: Yeah. It doesn't make you a pedo or a pepido, as they say.
Isabella: Yeah, I think it's just it's taken out of context.
Dad: So,
Isabella: yeah, where I'll leave that. I think that Carole is likely not actually connected to the Agreed. Agreed. So Daisy starts to be annoying yet again. I mean, she's really losing me.
She's talking about she's being annoying about Hailey. I forget what she even said, but she made reference to, like... She tried to compare Carole's thing with Hailey's thing in the tabloids.
Dad: Right.
Isabella: And it just... I don't think that works. I mean... But what was funny is that Hailey was like, You know what? I'm not even gonna argue with you because I want you to do my lashes later.
They didn't even get into it. Hailey was like, Ugh, whatever. Oh, and then Daisy kind of... Daisy and Sai are kind of besties, I guess, outside of this. And Daisy confronted Sai about her interrogation of Carole.
Why did I write down the quote, Who the F are you, a teacher? Sai said that.
Dad: At some point because she was saying, It's your delivery. It's your delivery. It's not necessarily what you're saying, it's how you're
Isabella: saying Oh, okay.
Dad: That's when she's like, What do you think? Are you a teacher? You're trying to correct the way I say something?
Isabella: And this is when Sai was starting to get really... Not hyped up, but she was... I think she was getting a little angry and...
Dad: Well, and she was proving Hailey's point, or Daisy's point. She kept cutting Daisy off and getting angry when Daisy was just explaining it's your... The banner of your delivery.
Isabella: Yeah. And then this goes into, like, they start arguing about the popcorn ceilings again and the rent controlled apartment again, and Daisy's like, Well, I feel like you just don't wanna be in my apartment. And Sai's like, I don't. I don't wanna be in your apartment. And then Sai...
This is when she starts going in on Erin.
Dad: Right. Something about maybe you're just not a good friend. Speaking of good friends, there's some sort of transition.
Isabella: There's transitions.
Dad: Directs her anger Erin. Yeah. So I did have a great quote, which we can't or won't repeat here.
Isabella: Probably not.
Dad: But it was pretty funny. And then I just kept getting so frustrated because as you discussed earlier, Sai was saying, I heard from Jenna that you told someone in between the two of us about my separation, and Erin kept saying, I didn't tell Jenna that. I didn't tell Jenna that. Okay. Listen, Erin.
That's not what she's saying. She's not saying you told Erin. She's telling... She's saying you told someone who told Erin. Or no, Erin is...
Isabella: Erin, who told Jenna. Yeah. Sorry.
Dad: Yeah. Even in the confessional, Erin kept saying, I didn't tell Jenna. I didn't tell Jenna. And I was getting frustrated with the producers, ask her, point out that you're not responding to this.
Isabella: Yeah. Yeah. So, I mean, Sai was just... I wrote down Sai is on one. Like, she's just going at it, not just with Erin, with Daisy and everyone.
And I... Sai is going through a lot, so, like, I get it, but it's... I mean, it sure is something. And so... Because Erin is...
Erin's now saying, like, Do you think I'm lying? And Sai says, Yes, I think you're lying. And so Erin's like, Well, then we're not friends. And they keep going back and forth and back and forth, and finally Erin just goes, Sai, we're done. She gets out of the pool, and this is when she cuts her foot open, as you mentioned.
Erika does come to check on her, and I thought this was funny. Erika, she's not really... I feel like she's kind of just there right now, but this was a funny comment. She said that she went to go check on Erin because she doesn't want her to sue me.
Dad: For two reasons. One, I don't want her to sue me, and two, because I'm concerned.
Isabella: She did say because I care about her, but also because I don't want her to sue me. I thought that was funny.
Dad: Well, it's just a cut on your foot. It wouldn't... Even if she won. It wouldn't... Yeah.
With the cost of the Band Aid.
Isabella: I know. Yeah. Well, she was like, It's a big piece of glass, a giant piece of glass.
Dad: And then... Then they brought the medic out, but it's not like they sent her off to get stitches.
Isabella: No. No. Just pressure on it, as you've mentioned Oh, We have this comment about Jessel's husband that I guess Erin made.
Dad: Oh, This is like the cliffhanger.
Isabella: Yeah. This is the cliffhanger, and I guess it's... And who is revealing... I guess it's Sai revealing this to Jessel.
Dad: Well, doesn't say it. She calls, I think, her glam squad Yeah. And gets him on the phone, and then... I thought she did it very well, because instead of saying it and then calling the guy to say, Don't you remember when she said exactly this? She called the makeup artist guy and said, What did he say?
Or, did Erin say about Pavit? And then that's when he brought it up.
Isabella: Yeah. And so what she said is that she's speculating that Jessel's husband Pavit is gay and goes and hangs out with men in the steam room at Equinox, which is a gym in New York City.
Dad: He didn't speculate. He said that Erin said, Oh, I have proof because I know someone that goes to the same gym and caught him there at Equinox. Equinox. Jessel was saying, He doesn't work out. He has a dad bod.
He doesn't even belong to Equinox. That's how the episode ends, so we'll see how that goes next time.
Isabella: Well, what was funny is that Pavit then had a response to that.
Dad: You mean on social media?
Isabella: On social media. Yeah. He posted a video of him at equin I think it's pronounced Equinox.
Dad: It's
Isabella: a gym. We don't know. But he, I guess, is a member there. Oh. And so we posted a video of him giving a tour and saying...
I think he was making kind of sly remarks. I really liked how he did that, that he leaned in a bit. Right. And I Like, he's He might be one of my favorite house husbands now for that. Just that he's not shying away from it.
He's leaning in. He's like, Okay, you He seems sort
Dad: of normal when they show him on screen.
Isabella: Yeah, I I like like him a lot. His whole thing from last season of flying all the way to whatever country it was to get a sandwich.
Dad: Maybe it was a mileage run, too.
Isabella: Needed think that too, yes. Or he said something about, like, the first class was an experience. Anyways, I like him a lot. He's funny. Anything else No.
To
Dad: Just move to RHOSLC.
Isabella: Yeah. Again, just RHONY's been really good. Yeah. I'm impressed. RHOSLC...
Dad: There was one line, we might have even discussed this already, but I... We've discussed this before that I don't laugh at much on television, certainly not out loud, except in this episode, Angie K., they're on the boat and Lisa Barlow is insisting she's never had any work done on her face. Angie is saying, Well, definitely your lips. You've had your lips done. And Lisa said, No, God gave me these lips.
And then Angie says, Did God give you those lips last year? And I just thought it was the funniest line I've heard in a long time. I did laugh out loud, and then later after the episode, I caught myself thinking about it and laughing again. So that to me was the highlight of the entire episode.
Isabella: Really? Okay. Yeah. I mean, that was good, but I think I have another highlight. Okay.
I'm trying to remember where we even start. We're still in San Francisco when the episode starts. We have Whitney breaking down to Heather about her marital status, so that's now back to back episodes of someone breaking down to Heather about their terrible marriage.
Dad: Yes.
Isabella: Lisa Lisa says that Bronwyn said that Lisa and Meredith were scheming, but it was Britani that said that that's gonna kind of play in later, but not really. That note ends up not mattering that much in the end. Oh, on... Okay, so they get on this boat, and I thought it was funny that Heather and Bronwyn are talking architecture. Architecture.
Heather was like, Bronwyn, can we talk architecture? Like, I don't know. I just... I know people have mixed feelings about Heather, but every now and then Heather says something funny. Like, her Fantasia comment last episode.
Dad: I think she says something funny in every episode, especially in the confessionals. She will come up with something very witty.
Isabella: She's good in the confessionals. Heather is witty. And like I said, people have... A lot of people have turned against Heather, but she's never not gonna be witty. Like, she's got a sense No, I
Dad: of think she's on my top five of if I had to pick someone to hang out with from reality TV. She's in my top five.
Isabella: Okay. There's a broad spectrum of feelings on Heather Gay, is all I'm saying. Noted. So while we're on the boat, we have Meredith and Lisa kind of scheming. Britani was right that they were scheming, and they're making a song, which we will discuss in a minute.
Poor Angie is seasick again.
Dad: I feel bad for her.
Isabella: I feel terrible.
Dad: Such a bad feeling.
Isabella: At this point, go on a boat again. Or take... Where's your Dramamine, girl?
Dad: I I thought she did that on Below Deck and it didn't work.
Isabella: Maybe. But, like...
Dad: Yeah. Or maybe she thought, oh, this is just in the bay. It won't be that big of a deal.
Isabella: Which, I mean, it is fair, but clearly she's very sensitive, to the point that she's still at the hotel and she's still sick.
Dad: Yes.
Isabella: Like, she can't even go out. Okay, so they have this party. Do we even remember what the theme was? I
Dad: think it was Bronwyn just wanted to host a party to say... I don't know.
Isabella: With people that she
Dad: knew Well, the theme was 80s or disco or something
Isabella: Yeah, like whatever. But she flew out her boyfriend, or as I think Heather mentioned, Todd probably flew out her boyfriend.
Dad: That's probably right, at least indirectly. Although, no, she makes money from the show, so maybe she wrote, you know, paid that bill out
Isabella: of her. Yeah, but I mean, it's funny. Oh, they're calling Angie back at the hotel, and Lisa made me laugh. She's telling Angie to drink some juice and turn your airway down, which I've never heard... Have you ever heard that phrase, turn your airway down?
Dad: I thought... I don't think it's airway like one word. I think it's air way down. Right? Like...
Oh.
Isabella: Okay. Well, that would...
Dad: She said 60 degrees, and the other ladies were like,
Isabella: going... No.
Dad: I think that that makes sense because I've been known to like to sleep on a really cold tile floor in the bathroom when I'm hung up, when I'm feeling really sick. It just, I think very cold rooms do help. Don't have any evidence, scientific or otherwise, for that other than just my own anecdotal experience.
Isabella: I guess it's fair. What I'm thinking is a cold room doesn't work if you're actually sick. If you have a cold or flu. No, no, just the sick, nauseated. Yeah, understand.
How about juice?
Dad: I think orange juice would probably be a really bad call. I think would have juice.
Isabella: Maybe ginger ale.
Dad: Yeah. When she called the concierge for ginger ale, I thought... She said ginger ale or sparkling water? I'm not...
Isabella: Ginger ale. Yeah. Okay. And then we get into the song. Yeah.
Which this song, it was stuck in my head.
Dad: A total earworm for me. I was taking the dog out afterwards and I came back in and I said, Renee, it's kind of catchy. Even when they were just singing it in their shitty voices, now they've produced like, there's a production version I just saw on Instagram Yeah, put
Isabella: out like a thirty second
Dad: Right, with her profile picture, and when I say profile, meaning from the side, right?
Isabella: Yeah. Honestly doesn't even look like her, No,
Dad: which amazing. Not that she's bad, but it definitely looked different.
Isabella: Well, the song is called Hypocrisy and Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit. I'm bored. I'm bored.
Yeah. And betrayal. And Meredith manipulation.
Dad: I didn't know if she was making fun of herself, but it sort of came across when she had that look on her face, whatever that famous quote she had from another season where like, You leave.
Isabella: You can leave. You can leave. Yeah. No, there are already some good memes coming out of that and, like, GIFs, and it's the whole scene was so bizarre. I mean, they're they're performing the song, and it seems like it kind of flopped.
Like, none of the ladies are like... Bronwyn's crying immediately. None of the ladies are interested. And so I wrote down, It flopped, but I'm laughing. But then Bronwyn kicks them out, and so they go into, like, I guess the next room over.
Dad: Right. It looked like was the main bar as
Isabella: opposed Yeah. To And they start seeing it again, and then this is where they have kind of the whole crowd joining in. And it's funny, there's this one scene that I keep seeing with all the women sitting at the table, and I guess there are these drag queens kind of in the room as well, and they're kind of singing along. And I forget which of the women it is. It might be singing it.
So the fact that they doubled down and went and did it again and got the crowd involved, and then some of... The two of them talking back and forth when they walked out, and they're like, I don't know. I mean, I thought we did great. Lisa says, What did Lady Gaga say? A Star Is Born?
Dad: And what did they call themselves? Something kittens?
Isabella: Yes. What what did they call... Oh, glam kittens,
Dad: I think.
Isabella: So I
Dad: normally don't do this, but I did watch What Happened... Well, your mother and I watched What Happened On After with Meredith and Z Way?
Isabella: Yes, and I love Z Way. I love Z Way, and I don't need to talk about it, but I love her.
Dad: And she had a moment or two where it was pretty clear that she thought that they too far with that, but she loved it for TV was what I was getting.
Isabella: It was so good for TV. Yes. I mean, good. I had one more note about Watch What Happens Live, though.
Dad: Go ahead.
Isabella: Meredith acknowledged the wig. She did. Were wondering... We had seen that Whitney and Heather had said, What about Meredith's wig? And we thought it was shitty, but I mean, kind of does...
Like, her confessional look especially does look like a wig. So Meredith acknowledged it. She was like, Yeah, it's a great wig, isn't it?
Dad: Right. She didn't just acknowledge it, she was proud of it. She named the person, maybe there's a term for people who make wigs, wig maker or something more important, something fancier than that.
Isabella: Kim Zolciak famously back in the day had a wig maker. I don't know if that's the term either.
Dad: But I think she was focusing on there was real hair.
Isabella: Yeah. But that doesn't matter to me. It's a wig. It's not your hair.
Dad: Right. Right.
Isabella: Which doesn't matter. I mean, I don't care who wears a wig at all. I just thought it was funny that she wasn't really open about it at first, and then she finally kinda...
Dad: Well, and they were saying it behind her back.
Isabella: That's fair. Yeah, that's true. Yeah. That's true. But, yeah, I think we had said previously that the first couple episodes were meh, not great.
And I think we're getting somewhere now.
Dad: Yes, I like it.
Isabella: It's good stuff. Oh, we did cover, by the way, the new episode of Potomac last episode because we recorded a little bit late. So if you're here wondering why we aren't talking about that, you can go back to that episode, and we'll talk about episode two next episode on our episode 20.
Dad: Looking forward Anniversary. To Yeah.
Isabella: The twentieth. Also, you have started watching Love Is Blind. I have not gotten there yet.
Dad: Oh, yes. I'm a bummer.
Isabella: But we do plan on covering Love Is Blind.
Dad: And we went back and forth because I think you were against it because of some of the stuff that happened
Isabella: It's behind just not as good anymore. It's just not.
Dad: And I had listened to some of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes from Bravo Docket about how long they have to stay there and how little money they get on a per hour basis and all this other stuff. But, okay. Yeah. Like we discussed, this might be in the hate watch category, but is for me. I...
We are current. Whatever the... However many episodes have come out so far as of today. I think the next episode or episodes come out on Wednesday. And I don't know if they do it one at a time going forward or they drop three at a time.
I don't know. Just pick some approach, Netflix. Stop doing this to me. I like that The Diplomat came out, that all eight episodes were there immediately. Yeah.
And if you don't do it that way, do one a week, like Slow Horses on Apple. But four and then some later, I just get too confused.
Isabella: Yeah.
Dad: And there is at least... There's gonna be some drama on there, but there's one guy on there that is just made for reality television. He is so not self aware, so what's the opposite of self deprecating? This guy pumps
Isabella: himself Self absorbed.
Dad: Oh my gosh. And talks about money. It just is non stop. Time I think he's reached the maximum, he goes over the top, even from there. Oh, god.
It's horrible.
Isabella: Well, I've seen a couple mentions on social media, but I haven't really dig in or dug in?
Dad: Dug in. I
Isabella: haven't really dug in to that.
Dad: Don't because there'll be a spoiler in Yeah. And that's part of the reason I'm not talking any more detail in that He's Alone is worth watching, but there's other stuff that goes on. But then if you look into this guy, I think his name is Stuart, and he calls himself Stu, you'll miss the twist. Or you'll find out the twist, and it's better to watch it on the show. More about that next week.
Isabella: Okay.
Dad: All right.
Isabella: Looking forward to it. Thanks for listening. Thanks, See you next time.
Dad: Take care.
Isabella: That's our episode. Thanks for hanging out with us.
Dad: Thanks for listening.
